Six Row Brewing Company

I love how that rhymes!

A few nights ago, I went to Six Row Brewing Company with some friends:

Charles (@stllegend) and Melissa (@milligfunk)!

Charles and I go way back. We knew each other in junior high and highschool – we were both involved in theater, we had a class or two together (one involved performing  an embarrasingly sweet Cruella DeVille dance together, but that’s another story for another time!), and we even rode the school bus together!

Melissa is a new friend – I first met her at Show Me the Blog, where she impressed the crowd with her amazing presentation on social media and marketing…and wowed us with her fantastic boots! She also has a really cool blog — A Small Town Girl’s Guide. Check it out!

Anyway, Charles put together a mini tweetup. Friends and food? Count me in!

We met up at Six Row Brewing Company in St. Louis.

It was a very laid back little place with amazing atmosphere. I immediately felt at home.

I’m pretty sure this had something to do with it:

Yummy Honey Weizen beer. Hello – I’m at a brewing company! Of course I’m going to see what bevvies they have to offer. It was delicious, by the way. Sweet and smooth, just like any good honey wheat beer should be.

We were feeling snackish, so we ordered some appetizers to share:

Buffalo Chicken Nachos,

Roasted Chicken Wings,

and Companion Bread Pretzels with beer cheese.

Everything was delicious! The buffalo chicken nachos started with deliciously fresh chips, topped with chicken, buffalo beer cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Yumtastic! These were my favorite.

The roasted chicken wings were tossed in honey-hot sauce and roasted until caramelized. The chicken itself was flavorful and juicy.

The pretzels were made my companion bakery (a St. Louis staple!) and were warm, soft, and chewy. The beer cheese was fantastic paired with these.

After sharing all of that food, we were stuffed! But of course we had to have dessert. And since we couldn’t just choose one, we decided to go with both! First up? Warm gooey butter cake.

It was served with cinnamon ice cream, and it was delish!! Wowza! So soft, warm, and…gooey! Gooey butter cake is sort of a St. Louis thing, but it really needs to catch on in the rest of the country. It’s that good. The cinnamon ice cream was yummy, too!

Next up? A cream cheese brownie with vanilla bean ice cream:

So good! We were all speechless after trying this one. I’m pretty sure Charles said “Oh…wow!” at least a dozen times. Smile

All in all, it was a wonderful night, filled with laughs, good conversation, and great food. I can’t wait to hang out again! Thanks for a great night, Charles and Melissa!

Score time.

Solid place. I’ll definitely be back!

  • Ugh! I always miss out on the smaller events. Looked like you guys had a wonderful time. I’ve been wanting to meet Stllegend for some time but haven’t seem to stumble upon him yet. Maybe one day!

    • Stephanie

Stllegend is a really cool guy. You’ll have to come to the next tweetup! I like the smaller ones because I get to really have good conversations with people.

  • Oh man!! The bread pretzels cry out to me.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as honey beer…dang, that sounds good, but why do I keep having an image of a drunk Pooh in my head?

    • Stephanie

lol @ drunk pooh! That’s what I felt like at the end of the night 🙂

  • I’m so glad I found your blog! I’m basically doing the same thing, except showcasing what I eat at home as well. I just moved here (well, Southern Illinois) in September and have been exploring the area and the natural/organic opportunities (there are many!) ever since. My boyfriend and I also hit up a ton of breweries and the like. Six Row’s Whale is my fav, just haven’t made it to the brewery yet!

Anyway, glad I found ya! I’ll be following along 🙂

    • Stephanie

Thanks for visiting (and commenting!) I’ve added your blog to my bookmarks, so i’ll be following you along as well! 🙂

  • Great pictures! The gooey butter cake and Cinnamon ice cream were amazing together.

Thanks so much to Charles for organizing. Stephanie, thank you for your compliments and for linking back to A Small Town Girl’s Guide!

Anytime you need a foodie buddy, let me know!

    • Stephanie

Thanks Melissa! I will definitely let you know! Maybe next time you’re in town we can all get together again (and bring some new faces in the mix, too!)

I just drank and ate there. Nice little brew pub. I had the pizza and pretzel sticks. Pizza is good. It has provel cheese. They had quite a few different kinds of beer for a small brew pub. I tried them all they were all great. I even recieved a small tour from one brewer whom was working at the bar. Very friendly staff and a resonable place to eat and have a drink. A very welcoming environment. Great Time will go back.
