If I had to pick a perfect food, pizza would probably be at the top of my list. Why? Oh, I don’t know…pizza just seems to have a lot going for it, you know? Soft, chewy dough, tangy tomato sauce, tons of cheese, all of the meat (read: BACON) you can pile on…I could go on. I just love the stuff, and whenever a new pizza place pops up on my radar, I have to try it.
So when my friend Holly told me about a spot in her neighborhood by the name of Plank Road Pizza, I knew I had to try it. So we had a little double date!
Holly and her husband:
And me and my boyfriend!
Plank Road Pizza is located in Cottleville, MO – almost an hour west of St. Louis.
Yeah, you read that right – almost an hour away! If you’ve read this blog for any period of time, you know it’s very rare that I’ll travel this far from the city. Heck, I rarely go west of highway 270. I’m a city girl through and through, but I will definitely go the distance for good food. 🙂
Plank Road has a pretty nice selection of items to choose from:
So many choices!
I finally decided to go with the Lime Street pizza: salsa chicken, olive oil, roasted garlic, roasted corn & black beans, house made salsa, red onion, mozzarella, jalapenos, cilantro, and spicy sriracha sauce. Holy moly!
I also had a side salad:
Let’s start with that salad. It was pretty simple: iceberg and romaine lettuce, provel cheese, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini, and house dressing. But something about this salad just made me really happy, and this is going to sound silly, but I think it was the lettuce! I like that it was shredded – it made it a lot easier to eat. So delicious!
Now to the pizza. This sucker was good. There were a lot of flavors going on, but they all worked together and made for one delicious pizza. And it definitely had a kick!
I washed it down with one of my favorite Schlafly beers. 🙂
Nothing says summer like Raspberry Hefeweizen! 🙂
Plank Road doesn’t just have delicious pizza, they have a gorgeous interior to match. I couldn’t stop taking pictures!
So cool. It reminded me of a barn!
Anyway, if you’re ever out in the Cottleville area, I highly recommend Plank Road. It’s quite a hike, but it’s worth it. 🙂
See you next week!
