La Cosecha

I freaking LOVE Maplewood. I love it so so much. There are so many amazing shops, restaurants, bars…there’s something for everyone, and it’s awesome. If I ever do a “Focus On” series again (remember my “Focus On Ferguson”)?  It will definitely have to be about Maplewood.

Now that I’m done waxing poetic about my love for my ‘hood, let’s get into this review, shall we?

As you (hopefully!) know, I do some occasional freelance work for Feast Magazine. In early April, I wrote an article about this awesome place:

La Cosecha! It’s a fairly new establishment that shares its home with Great Harvest Bread Company.

Once I walked in, I was immediately impressed. The interior is cozy and has a rustic feel.

Jamie (one of the co-owners) and Gregory (manager) were nice enough to allow me to take half a billion (I counted!) pictures. They even posed for a picture themselves!

The menu at La Cosecha offers a little of everything, from traditional coffees (espresso, cappuccino) to iced tea, and everything in between.

The honey almond latte came highly recommended, so I started with that.

So pretty! I was a huge fan of this coffee. It was smooth, creamy, and DEFINITELY packed a huge punch of caffeine. I loved it!

One thing that’s super cool about La Cosecha (and something I’ve never seen elsewhere) is their flash brewed coffee. Unlike cold press (where coffee is steeped in cold water before being filtered), flash brewing involves brewing the coffee directly into an ice-filled container and then introducing it to a keg, where nitrogen is introduced to remove oxygen.

Did you hear that? Coffee? In a keg? Served on tap?

Count. Me. In.

I was somewhat expecting the flash brewed coffee to be bitter or have a weird aftertaste, but this didn’t at all. It was smooth, cool, and super refreshing. I could totally see myself sipping this on a summer day. Or ANY day, really. I looooove coffee…what can I say? 🙂

La Cosecha also carries many varieties of coffee beans from all over the world.

If all of that isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, La Cosecha also offers roasting classes!

I’m seriously tempted to take a class. Who’s in? 🙂

All in all, I was super impressed with this place. It’s so awesome to have another sweet coffee spot to hit up in Maplewood. I can’t wait to go back, and I really think you should give it a try if you haven’t already!

See you next week 😉
