Katie’s Pizza & Pasta

I love meeting new people. I love it. Especially when they are fellow foodies.

So when Mike (owner of Gus Gus Fun Bus) put together a STL Foodies Meetup event and invited some of my favorite food bloggers, I was game.

We met up at Katie’s Pizza & Pasta, in Rock Hill. I’ve had this place on my to-do list for quite some time now, so it was nice to finally visit!

The inside was beautiful, and the place was hoppin!

Clockwise (from left): Suzanne and Mike (GusGusFunBus), Spencer (Whiskey & Soba), George Mahe (writer for STLmag), Charlie & Christine (We Eat Stuff), Lisa (Olive Food Do You), Me, and Candis (Frolicking Foodista). Bob (Completely Sauced) was nice enough to take everyone’s picture!

Once we were all settled, food started arriving to our table almost immediately.

A beautiful burrata mozzerella plate with figs and prosciutto, served with crostini:

Tuscan mussels in a spicy tomato broth:

Squid ink spaghetti with prawns, scallops, clams, caviar, and chili flakes:

I think this was Fiori noodles with spicy arrabiatta sauce and arugula:

And an amazingly beautiful charceuterie plate:

Oh. My. Gosh. We sampled and shared all of these amazing dishes, and they were fantastic. My favorite was probably the toasted ravioli, but it was all delicious.

Oh, and I had to order a drink. Of course. I went with a blood orange bellini:

It was sweet and super tasty! So good I had to have another one after this was finished. 🙂

As if that wasn’t enough food, some of us ordered additional entrees.

Mike and Suzanne ordered a margherita pizza:

And Lisa and I shared a cured meats pizza:

The cured meats pizza was topped with san marzano red, speck, coppa, sopressata, fresh mozzarella, chili pepper, and fresh arugula.

This pizza was seriously good. The chili pepper added a nice kick to it, and all of the meats worked together perfectly.

This was a fantastic experience, and it was awesome to meet other local bloggers for the first time. After tweeting with many of them for so long, it was nice to be able to put faces to names!

Another meetup is already in the works, and I can’t wait to meet up with this amazing folks again!
