Final Cut Steakhouse

I love steak. Love. I love the way it looks. I love the way it smells. And most of all, I love the way it tastes – especially when it’s cooked just right. I love a nice, juicy, rare steak. I’d eat it every day if I could.

But…I think I’m going to have to stop visiting steakhouses. I think I bring them bad luck.

Since I’ve started this blog, I’ve written about three different steakhouses. And out of those three? Only one is still in business today. One!

Don’t believe me? Check out my reviews of 1904 Steakhouse, Jeff Ruby’s, and Kelly English. 1904 is the only one still around. The other two closed not too long after I wrote my reviews. And before anyone tries to accuse me of destroying someone’s livelihood, they were good reviews!

So it’s with great trepidation that I write this review – Let’s hope this place actually sticks around! The place in question? Final Cut Steakhouse!

This steakhouse is located inside of Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights.

The place itself is quite beautiful!

And if the interior looks familiar, it’s because Final Cut is located in the space where Kelly English Steakhouse used to be.

I came here a few weeks ago with my family to celebrate my stepdad’s birthday!

The menu at Final Cut is small, but it includes the staples you would expect at any steakhouse – filet mignon, New York strip, rib eye, prime rib, and a boatload of sides – asparagus, brussels sprouts, penne au gratin, and spinach casserole, just to name a few.

Even with such a small menu, I still had a hard time deciding what to order. Our waiter brought out a bread basket for us to nibble on while we perused the menu.

Aside from the fact that every steakhouse I’ve blogged about has closed, do you know what else my steakhouse blog posts have in common? Really crappy pictures. Can I blame the lighting? Yeah. I’m going to blame the lighting. 😉

Our waiter was super nice, and after learning that I was a food blogger (and my sister is in culinary school), he brought out something special for us to all try!

This was a pretty fantastic potato salad dish with fresh dill. It was pretty tasty!

After a bit of waffling back and forth, I finally made my decision – the filet mignon was calling my name! I had it with a side of mashed potatoes.

The potatoes were creamy, rich, and so so so buttery! I fell in love, and just like with all foods that I love, I fantasized about swimming in a pool of it. I want to be a millionaire so I can swim in a pool of buttery mashed potatoes. Is that weird? Don’t answer that.

Oh, and the steak?

It was delicious! I ordered it rare, and it was darn near perfect.

So so good!

My family ordered tasty food as well: french onion soup, pan roasted chilean sea bass, grilled chicken breast, and steak oscar (twin tenderloin medallions topped with crab meat, asparagus, and bearnaise), just to name a few. You’ll have to use your imagination, as I have a strict quota on the number of crappy pictures I can post in one blog entry. 😉

I will, however, post a picture of the delicious ice cream that was brought out for my stepdad!

Overall, Final Cut was great! The service was fantastic, the ambiance was nice, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place! Visit soon before my curse strikes again. 😉
