I love hotdogs. Love. Especially Chicago Dogs. So why don’t I blog about them more?
Good question. Let’s change that, shall we?
A few weeks ago, my sister was talking about a new hot dog joint in St. Louis that was getting a lot of attention. Good attention. She really wanted to try it, and you all should already know my feelings on new restaurants. I was in!
And so was the rest of my family. The family that eats hot dogs together stays together!
Back to the restaurant. Dogs N Frys is a new-ish restaurant in Florissant (a suburb of St. Louis) that serves – you guessed it – hot dogs! They also serve specialty fries. I was super excited to try this place!
The interior was small and cozy, with just enough room to fit our large group. We immediately began to check out the (very large!) menu.
So many dogs and fries to choose from!
I was torn between the Peanut Butter Jelly Bacon Dog (peanut butter jelly sauce, beef bacon, topped with caramelized onions) and the Sweet and Spicy Dog (spicy raspberry sauce, cheddar cheese, seared jalapenos, and sweet BBQ sauce). After lots of back and forth (and a little help from my friends on twitter!) I decided to go with the Sweet and Spicy dog. I love sweet and savory flavors together, so I had high hopes for this one.
As far as the fries were concerned, I had a tough time settling on one option for those, as well! Literally everything sounded good: Hot Frys (grilled jalapenos, cheddar cheese, hot sauce, sriracha, crushed red pepper, flamin hot cheetos), Slaughter Stack (coleslaw, beef bacon, sweet BBQ sauce), and Philly Fry (beef bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, sauteed green peppers) all caught my eye.
But I decided to go with something a little different from all of those:
See that little gem at the bottom? Ice Cream Frys! Yes, yes, and yes. As someone who dips her fries in ice cream all the time (Wendy’s frosty and french fries, anyone?), this was right up my alley.
Service was fast and friendly, and our food came out really quickly. My Sweet and Spicy dog and ice cream fries looked incredible:
Come to mama.
My family made some pretty solid choices too!
The Hot n Spicy Dog:
The Chicago Dog:
The Chili Dog:
And the Western Dog:
Everything looked amazing! I couldn’t wait to dig in.
The verdict? Well, I inhaled my sweet and spicy dog and ice cream fries in record time. Let’s just say that.
All in all, I highly recommend Dogs N Frys. Service was fantastic, the prices were really reasonable, the portion sizes were huge, and most importantly, the food was delicious! I loved this place so much I was even able to forgive them for the (intentional?) misspelling of the plural form of ‘fry’.
See you next week!
