Why hello there, long lost friends!
Hope y’all are having a fantastic 2016. I have some news to share on Friday, so check this space in a couple of days! Until then, I want to blog about an annual tradition with my mom and sister. Cookie day! We’ve been doing this every year since 2011. I even blogged about it once before!
Every year, right around Christmas time, my mom, my sister and I bake a bunch of cookies. In the past, we’ve spent hours upon hours baking hundreds of cookies. This year, we decided to scale it down a bit and just do 6 different types of cookies. 😉
I woke up bright and early on cookie day to head to my grandma’s for some hard core baking. But first, I had to fuel up with some coffee.
I’ve blogged about Folgers Perfect Measures before. Remember these cute little discs?
I’m sort of obsessed. I love this coffee because it takes the guesswork out of making coffee in the morning. I have it down to a science: 8 pellets and 35 ounces of water is enough for 3 full cups of coffee, which is all I can drink before I start to go completely caffeine-crazy. 😉
Once I got to my grandma’s, we quickly got to work! I snapped a few pictures of my mom and sister in action.
After a few hours, our cookie baking adventure was complete! I made lemon cookies and peanut butter cookies:
My mom made gooey butter cookies and chocolate chip with pecan cookies:
And my sister made sugar coconut cookies and double chocolate chip cookies!
They were all absolutely delicious, but I think the sugar coconut cookies were my favorite; definitely a surprise, since I’m not the hugest fan of coconut!
I had a blast, and I love that we do this every year as a family. It’s one of my favorite things to do, and I’m glad I could share it here on the blog.
Check back in a couple days for that news I hinted at earlier!
