Bread Pudding Challenge, Week 8: McCormick & Schmick’s

9

Good morning, and happy February 29th! I love leap years. They just feel special for some reason. Smile

What better way to celebrate than with some bread pudding? It’s Week 8, baby!

This week, I stopped by McCormick & Schmick’s for some of the good stuff.

This particular chain is located right by West County Mall in St. Louis.

Did you catch that? I went to a chain! Oh, the horror! Surprised smile I did make a rule for myself that I would only review local restaurants (and try to stay away from chains), but I heard that the BP at McCormick & Schmick’s was not to be missed. So I’m bending the rules a bit. It’s my blog, I’ll do what I want Winking smile

Moving on.

The place is pretty nice on the inside. It was empty on a Monday night, so I snapped a few pictures.

Anyway, we’re here for bread pudding! Let’s talk about it. I requested the dessert menu and took a look at the other offerings, even though I knew exactly what I was going to order.

Chocolate Baileys Bread Pudding? Yes, please! Warm bailey’s infused chocolate bread pudding, Crème Anglaise, bitter sweet chocolate sauce? Oh wow. Yes yes yes!

Hello there, gorgeous. Smile

I’ve had lots of bread pudding in my day, but I don’t think I’ve ever had chocolate bread pudding. I was excited, to say the least. I dug right in.

Wow. Words cannot even begin to describe the taste of this bread pudding. It was warm, moist, and super chocolatey. There were walnuts spread throughout the bread pudding, which added a nice change of texture. Honestly? This tasted more like a brownie than bread pudding to me. A rich, decadent brownie.

The whipped cream on top added a nice sweetness to the BP, as did the caramel and chocolate sauces on the place. All in all, this was simply perfect.

I’m going to throw this out there right now, and I can’t believe I’m saying this: This bread pudding is the best I’ve ever had. In my life. Ever. Remy’s, you’ve been bumped from my number 1 spot!

Let’s take a look at the new runnings:

1. McCormick & Schmick’s

2. Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Remy’s, Annie Gunn’s (still a three way tie for second!)

5. Bridge Tap House

6. Harvest

7. Cyrano’s

8. Café Eau

I can’t believe I have a new favorite! This challenge is getting crazier and crazier by the minute, but there are still two weeks left in the challenge, so anything could happen between now and then!

See you in a few days, and enjoy this last day of February 2012!

Share.

When I saw you went to McCormick & Schmick’s I was all prepared to issue a snarky comment about chains, but you beat me to it. This bread pudding sounds great. Very interesting that a chain tops the charts.

      Very interesting indeed! 🙂

One more thing: This makes me wonder if Bissingers has bread pudding…
