Baiku Sushi Lounge

3

I remember when sushi was my favorite food. I loved the stuff. I felt like I could eat it everyday!

And while I still love it, I can’t say that it’s my favorite anymore. I’m not sure what happened. Perhaps I discovered other foods I like better, I guess!

That didn’t stop me from wanting to visit Baiku Sushi Lounge, however. I visited a few weeks ago with Joselyn. It was weeknight, and it wasn’t super busy, but it sure was beautiful!

We started with hot sake while we looked over the menu.

Smooth and so so delicious!

I started with miso soup:

And we ordered firecracker shrimp lettuce cups to share:

This yummy appetizer consisted of flash fried gulf shrimp, japanese chili 5 spice blend, and sriracha aioli. It was so good!

For our main course, we ordered a couple of rolls to share: the unagi roll (freshwater eel, cucumber, avocado, sweet soy reduction), and the kamikaze roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, gobo, albacore tuna, ginger garlic ponzu, scallions):

It was all very tasty!

All in all, Baiku didn’t really knock my socks off, but it was good, solid sushi. However, if you’re looking for (in my opinion) the best sushi in St. Louis, I highly recommend Kampai. Even after all of these years, they are still my very favorite.

See you next week!

I’m in nearly the same place in regards to having a former obsession with sushi. I am newish to St. Louis and agree that so far Kampai is St. Louis’s best attempt at a good sushi joint. However, if you ever happen to find yourself in Denver, you must try Sushi Den. Yes, it is always crazy busy and maybe a little pricey—but I promise you it is worth it. The smoothest most buttery salmon that has ever hit my lips–amazing. It may just revive your sushi obsession.

Thanks for the awesome suggestion, Rachel! I wish I would have known about Sushi Den a few months ago — I was in Denver for a work trip and I would have loved to try it! Now I know where to go next time I’m in Colorado 🙂

Did you eat anywhere amazing while in Denver? Hit me up if/when you plan to return. I can provide a small novel of suggestions. 🙂
