Amighetti’s

1

Happy Friday! This week zoomed by. Why do some weeks go by so quickly, while others seem to crawl? One of life’s weird mysteries, huh? I’ll stop asking so many questions and appreciate this week for what it was.

You know what else I appreciate? A good sandwich. I love all types of food, but I hold a special place in my heart for carbs, especially thick, soft, chewy bread.

How much do I love bread? Well, here’s a funny story: during my sophomore year of college, I remember stressing out during finals week (who doesn’t freak out during finals week?). It was the end of the semester, so my roommate and I had practically no food left in our apartment.

Except for a loaf of bread.

Any guesses as to how this story ends? Winking smile

Well, it was late at night, I was cramming for an organic chemistry final, and I was hungry. I didn’t feel like leaving the apartment for dinner, so I plopped down at my desk, cracked open my book, and before I knew it, I had eaten every last slice of bread.

Later that evening, my roommate came back; she had gone to the grocery store and bought a bunch of ingredients to make sandwiches.

Except I had eaten all of the bread. Whoops. She never let me live that one down.

Anyway, now that I’ve illustrated how much of a bread fanatic I am, let’s get on with this review, shall we?

I recently headed here for some carby goodness:

Amighetti’s! This sandwich spot is somewhat of a St. Louis legend. It’s been around for years, and they’re known for their delicious variety of sandwiches. They were even in the newspaper!

Aside from sandwiches, Amighetti’s also offers pasta, salads, and soups. However, I was here for one thing and one thing only: a sandwich!

I settled with the Amighetti Special: this baby is filled with ham, roast beef, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, pepperoncini, and special dressing.

This was good! There’s a reason why Amighetti’s is so highly rated. I love sandwiches that are piled high with toppings, and this one didn’t disappoint. And the bread? Amazing! It was soft, chewy, and perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Service at Amighetti’s was great, and the price wasn’t terrible either. My sandwich was a little over 7 bucks, and it was more than enough for two meals.

I will definitely be back! Two thumbs up for this carb fanatic. Winking smile

See ya next week!
