About Me!

November 1, 2010

Hi! My name is Stephanie, and I’m from the beautiful city of St. Louis.

I’ve lived here all of my life, and I absolutely love this city. I fall more in love with it everyday!

So why did I start blogging?

Well, it all started in March of 2010. While I loved the job I was working at, I felt like I was missing something in my life. I was missing excitement; love; passion. I didn’t have anything to look forward to! In essence, I didn’t have a hobby.

My coworker suggested starting a food blog. I loved to eat, and I loved to write, so why not combine the two into something fun? She helped me brainstorm a fun, cool name for my blog; something that would stand out. Off The Eaten Path was born.

Initially, I was just going to cover small hole-in-the-wall places. But that quickly expanded to include all of the St. Louis area. I didn’t want to limit myself too much! My only rule? No chains.

With the help of my trusty DSLR (thanks Dad!) I set off on my journey to find interesting, cool restaurants, cafes, and bistros to document for my blog. I quickly discovered the wealth of food offerings St. Louis had!

I’ve eaten delicious cupcakes,

Decadent smothered fries,

and my favorite: sushi!

And I’ve sampled a little bit of everything in between.

My blog has opened the door for so many opportunities. I was able to attend the St. Louis Wine Festival as a Foodie Ambassador:

I’ve done some freelance work for Maplewood-Brentwood Patch, Maryland Heights Patch, Hazelwood Patch, Clayton Patch, and even CBS St. Louis!

Most recently, I was featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch:

And I made an appearance on Great Day St. Louis to talk about saving money over the holidays:

I feel so lucky to have received such amazing opportunities from this little hobby blog! I love writing about food. I love taking pictures of it. Most of all, I love sharing my thoughts with you.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog just as much as I enjoy writing it.

You wonderful food explorer……with a heart of a lion. You even tried my fermented herring made up on the crispbread according to all rules of deep-seated tradition. What a champ!!!

Now, can you suggest a “different” restaurant to take out the boys for Alex birthday tomorrow????????? Dig deep Stephie… ;-D
